PKA Ausf. N6 Näcken

 

Similar to my SAFS Renegade, the Näcken is my attempt to make an original suit variant but this time for the Strahl forces. Based on the Nixe, which is in turn based on the Fliege space suit, this is Strahl unit modified for riverine and littoral operations. Something not fully amphibious for diving/blue water combat, but could easily support forces controlling canals and waterways.

The biggest modification was adding one of the standard Strahl suit radiator hatches to the top of the suit - I figured it would need some sort of ventilation to aerate the engine if it became submerged, combined with a snorkel on top of the hatch for the pilot and some small details such as the modified antennae and sensor pod. The hand was replaced was replaced with a more underwater-feeling worker claw and the gun was replaced with a laser from a Dorvack kit.

Like the previous VOTOMS MarshyDog project, another attempt at murky water was attempted by tinting clear resin, it came out a little more convincing than the MarshyDog but I still think it could be improved. A great convincing waterside diorama or vignette is one of my big long term goals as a model maker... maybe it's time to try again sometime soon!
