SAFS Prototype

A very unique design that exists to fill in the gap between the AFS and SAFS type suits, similar to the Archelon, the SAFS Prototype exists both in this guise and also a (slightly cooler) 3-window design. The kit is mostly the Wave AFS with a couple new sprues for the egg shaped body.

The design is kind of strange, the pilot is inset very deep within the body window - peripheral vision must be quite the issue with this suit! The AFS gun arm that comes with the kit was replaced with a Raptor gun arm to help fit the more rotund SAFS style body.

The pilot bust was replaced with a gas mask pilot to help sell the experimental look. A good dig through the spare parts bin led to a simple kitbashed industrial interior base, given a quick paint job with sloppy strokes and lots of oil weathering to give a worn-in appearance.

The overall vibe of the build was geared towards mid-century Atomic Age experimental technology, the dark blue was custom mixed using Gaianotes paints. Per usual, the Wave decals are very pleasant to use.

This is definitely not my favorite Ma.K design - still wishing we got this in the 3 window variant as a plastic kit - but like all the Wave AFS kits, it goes together very well and the large surfaces give a good surface if a camouflage scheme were to be applied.
