AFS Custom Type Archelon

The Archelon is the "missing link" between the AFS and SAFS type suits in the Ma.K universe. It has a fully enclosed cockpit like a SAFS, but maintains the body structure of the AFS. The Wave kit is basically an AFS Mk.I kit with a new sprue for the new body/head. The unique place it occupies in the Ma.K lore as a test type for the SAFS makes it a great subject.

This build was painted with Mr. Color lacquers, I knew I wanted to have the majority of the color scheme be RLM 02 Gray as the actual plastic color was similar to that and it looked quite good and befitting of the shape of the suit. New joints were sculpted with epoxy sculpt and the vinyl hoses were replaced with guitar string.

A simple fall colors base was created for the vignette, the foliage is from a model railroad scenery kit and the branch is an actual twig that was sealed with acrylic medium and glued into place. An antennae was added with brass wire and the entire kit was weathered with a mix of oils and dry pigments.

While this is a great Ma.K design and kit, this build has something of an issue - namely it is missing! For some reason, it isn't in on my shelves, I know for a fact it hasn't been sold or given away, and it isn't on display anywhere else... this kit has quite literally mysteriously disappeared! Oh well, maybe I will have to build another one!
