W.H.J. 131 Großer Hund Altair

One of the best of the larger unmanned Ma.K designs, the Großer Hund has a great hunched over pose and an imposing design. The space type, the Altair, adds large rocket nozzles and Kauz/Fliege style stabilizer antennae to the backpack. This kit is really fantastic in terms of parts layout despite some very touchy construction around the neck and shoulder region.

The kit was built fairly simply, like many of the Hasegawa kits it has rubber hoses and tubing for the power pipes which can be a little bit problematic when painting. Otherwise, it goes together very easily.

The kit was painted with GaiaNotes lacquers and the winged skull decals were applied and then painted over as the very thick decal film did not look great as is over the mottled finish. The color scheme is meant to be a fictional style of "Lunar Camouflage" - probably not very effective, but I think it looks cool!

This is a great kit with lots of potential for creative modeling, it has a very unique stance for any mecha!
