MK44DF Thunder Knight
My first attempt at making some small modifications to the Mk44 type suit - including another wonderful head sculpt courtesy of Love Love Garden. The base kit, the Hammer Knight had a large bazooka type weapon that was quite plain so I wanted to see if it would be able to be turned into something else.
The bazooka was modified with some leftover parts from other Mk44 builds - the idea was to turn it into some sort of chemical sprayer weapon. The reasoning being that it could release some sort of metal-weakening colloidal gas or liquid that would allow lasers to penetrate enemy armor easier.
I had been wanting to try a heavily mottled one-color scheme on a Mk44 for a while as the shape is so unique, it almost doesn't need a camouflage scheme to shine. A stone blue and some yellow and white accents was chosen to give it some pop. A heavy smattering of random decals gives it the style of a mercenary's field modified and customized work.
The Mk44 is probably the best of all the Hasegawa Ma.K so far, as it strikes a good balance of being a good bit bigger than a standard Ma.K without being too fiddly like some of the vehicles. Again, I would have to recommend this kit as a great introduction to sci-fi model making!
