TYPE N-58 UNMANNED
Another one of these interesting Dorvack suits from Gunze Sangyo - this time starting out life as the 1/24 Halk Sovat suit. It originally was a power armor type design armed with a RPG launcher style weapon, but I had some spare parts that had been sitting around for so long that a little kitbash and modification was in order. Starting with a basic plan and letting it kind of evolve on its own, this is the result.
The main change is obviously the "face" of the suit, which was built up using a Ma.K Gustav canopy and a healthy amount of polyester putty to fill in the gaps. The upper thigh/waist of the legs was changed into the shoulders and biceps of the arms and to aid the look of being an unmanned drone, the arms end in small weapons with a grabber arm, courtesy of the HGUC Kshatriya wing binder. Some Ma.K small parts finished out the details and feet, and some small pieces of brass wire for roll bars were added.
Leftover AFS Luna Pawn decals made for a good fit on the look of the suit, which appears to have become some kind of automated lunar perimeter defense drone: picture small teams of these things guarding mining operations on a desolate moon base possibly? The base was made from the lid of a scented candle.
Once again, these little Dorvack kits prove to be a good basis for an aesthetic exercise in creative kitbashing. Although they seem to be getting slightly more rare and priced accordingly, they are still a ton of fun when they pop up. Definitely worth a look and trying one if you like obscure 80s kits.
