SAFS Snowman

One of the best and most unique aspects of the Ma.K universe is the strange and sometimes incongruous sense of humor, and few things exemplify that more than the SAFS Snowman. More than just a SAFS equipped for cold climates, it has a jaunty attitude to boot! Naturally the Snowman is the Wave SAFS kit with a tiny additional sprue that contains the nose piece and decals for the smiling face. Special thanks to JSAN9 for providing some aftermarket joints for this kit.

This kit was painted in the style of Max Watanabe, a very well known Gunpla and Ma.K modeler in Japan. The base coat was done with a variety of primary colors in a splatter pattern and then the white was glazed over it in multiple thin layers. I am not sure if I did it 100% correctly, but I wound up reasonably satisfied with the results. I saw the technique in Hobby Japan, but naturally not being a Japanese reader, I could only follow the photos and was unable to read the article. With the jolly attitude, I replaced the laser with another hand - I couldn't imagine this happy Snowman blowing away enemies!

A truly iconic mascot of the Ma.K world, the Snowman is one of those things that is incredibly fun to build and just puts a smile on your face when you are painting on that face. Very possibly one of the best SAFS variants -  definitely the most fun loving!
