MSAM-034A Jahannam

While the opinion on Reconguista in G was pretty sharply divided, I actually found the series to be really refreshing and the designs are absolutely fantastic - I think Ippei Gyobu is the most exciting new artist to become a designer on Gundam in a long time. The Jahannam, being the "Zaku" of the series, was very appealing to me and when the kit went on deep discount (sub-$10 kits are hard to resist), I decided to give it a try.

Several parts were modified - the shield, the front skirts, and the side skirts were all extended while the waist was reduced. The backpack was replaced with a small detail part modified to fit.

The pistol is from a Kotobukiya weapons set, and the axe is from the HG Graze. The abstract markings were masked with thin strips of tape and the color was sprayed with a mix of Gaia and Mr. Color paints.

A fun little project that wound up being gifted to my friend Spencer who is a very talented painter - I like getting a second opinion from non-modelers on my work, and he has been a very gracious friend often chiming in on my work over the years. I'm so thankful to be surrounded by so many talented people!
