Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-29 Fulcrum
This kit was gifted to me by my friend Jordan who is a very accomplished aircraft modeler - and this would prove to be my first aircraft since I was a young child building snap fit models (and making a huge mess in my bedroom). It's great when your friends see vintage Japanese kits of Cold War subjects and immediately think of you - much appreciated! I had only ever seen Tsukuda's Nausicaa models before this, and had no idea they even made aircraft subjects until I received this kit.
The kit was a pretty standard construction - at 1/144 scale, there isn't too much of cockpit detail, just what looks like a lawn chair for the seat and some bare sidewalls. It was pretty eye opening to see it next to a HG Gunpla in the same scale - either this plane is on the smaller side or MS are ridiculously big! The camo was masked with blu-tack and painted with Tamiya paints. The decals provided only one marking option for a Soviet scheme.
This completed build was given away to a former bandmate and fellow artist, as they are a huge fan of the history of the Soviet Union. While this was a cool experience to finally do an aircraft - I'd like to try one at a bigger scale such as 1/48 or 1/72 to experience more of the painting and detailing options possible.
