Heavy Type SAFS
My first ever time using a resin add-on conversion for a kit! I got the Goose Mark parts secondhand from a store in Akiba (I forget the exact name, it is in Radio Kaikan building and has lots of secondhand garage kits) and immediately loved how well they complement the shapes of the SAFS. I couldn't find too much information on Goose Mark online in English other than that they made a few other Ma.K resin items and that they haven't released anything new in a little while.
The resin parts were quite a clean casting and after the removing mold lines and nubs they were ready to mate with the kit parts. The base kit was the Wave SAFS and a spare hatch from a Raptor was used as I felt it matched the "humps" added by the resin parts.
The kit was painted with Finisher's Ma.K paint using a color called "Monkey Rose" which has to be the best name for a paint color ever. The antennae was made out of a section of sprue and the power cables are my usual recycled flat wound bass guitar strings. The pilot is a Love Love Garden resin head with a great sculpt full of emotion and detail - seriously it wasn't until I painted a resin head that I realized a good sculpt makes figure painting much easier.
After doing this kit, I realized that if you have a good original casting, resin isn't as daunting as it can initially seem. Part of the Ma.K world is seeing what kind of cool variations the fans and community can come up with such as this one - it's a great universe to explore and I look forward to trying more!
